About this Project

In support of UC Davis’ longstanding commitment to addressing today’s most pressing challenges in agriculture and environmental sustainability, the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Agricultural Innovation Center will house classrooms, research and lab spaces, as well as student career and advising assistance in a 32,000-square-foot, LEED-certified, state-of-the-art hub.

Here, experts from across UC Davis will focus on five thematic research areas including identifying innovative solutions for agricultural byproducts, maximizing water and energy efficiencies, developing next-generation technologies, making crops more resilient and sustainable in the face of a rapidly changing climate, and expanding access to nutritious food.

The built facility will include flexible laboratories to address the latest technologies including:

• Sensor and robotics prototyping and testing
• Student robotics collaboration lab
• Big data and digital AI design lab
• Extraction food grade lab
• Specimen receiving and preprocessing lab
• Discovery and characterization wet lab
• Molecular analysis wet lab
• Plant culture growth lab
• Student collaboration hub
• Home for the Wonderful Scholar program

Ultimately, the center will explore new ways of balancing food production with leading sustainability practices while advancing the global agricultural industry with scalable solutions. 

In addition, this project includes the removal of a number of trees (Learn more about our Campus Tree Renewal Program.), the relocation of an existing trailer, development of a plaza with research orchards or demonstration gardens, the relocation of Extension Center Drive with a signalized intersection, the continuation of the cycle track and sidewalk from the east side of Highway 113 up to La Rue Road, and a relocation of an adjacent parking lot entrance.
